About Me

Hello, my name is Amrita Das and I am a freelance travel writer and a travel blogger based in India. In April 2014, I quit my full-time job to become a full-time traveller. Currently, I share my travel experiences here, on my website and make money by working with a number of publications and travel websites and through blogger collaborations. You can read the complete list of my published work in Work with Me.

My story of how I quit my job to hit the road has been featured by Rediff. Travel Junkette listed my blog as one of the 35 Best Female Blogs to Follow in 2015. For other featured mentions, go here.

In the summer of 2014, I took up my first seasonal job as a property manager in Goa. After working there for six months, I packed up (yet again) and moved to another city temporarily. I admit that being a seasonal worker is a fantastic way of exploring any place while picking up necessary people skills. I am looking for my next seasonal work experience.

I propagate female solo travel and share my experiences from off-beat and adventure travel through my writing. I encourage more people to step out and explore the world, even if it’s just for a few days and in your backyard. Travel opens us to change.

Hailing from the popular capital of Meghalaya, Shillong, the mountains are one of my biggest weaknesses. Other weaknesses include chai, cycling, dogs, walking, a sunny day, free Wi-Fi, an honest smile, books, genuine words, jazz and Hindi cinema music, a pool of water, nutella crepe, beer, space, empathy and good humour.

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM MY BLOG: A weekly post through photographs, reviews or experiential, narrative stories. My reviews are about a place, bar, hotel or anything key to my travel experience. You will also find my tips on solo travel and solo safe destinations across the world on this site. I share a travel photo every day from Monday to Friday on my Instagram and Facebook page.
